At the beer garden

It was a scorcher this weekend in Prague, up near 30 degrees C. So most Czechs are either out of the city at their cottages or on the river. In the evenings, most young people head to the beer gardens, like this one in Riegrove sady, a park on a high hill dividing the two neighborhoods Vinohrady and Žižkov. I featured the park a little bit in Beyond the A.M. Crowd. This past couple weeks with the Euro Cup the tables have all been packed. Two big screens are set up and people come dressed in the colors of the country they support. There were a hell of a lot of disappointed people wearing orange on Saturday night after this years surprise team Russia beat tournament favorite Holland 3-1. But a lot of Russians and Ukrainians live in the city too so there were also exultant cries of Russia! Russia! Anyway, whatever the result, the tables were packed and the pints of Pilsner and Gambrinus went down all the same, as you can see in the photo. Nazdravi!
