Upon further review: From HSU to the 49ers and Raiders, a few quick hits

After three days of contemplating whether Rob Smith made the right call in Humboldt State’s 17-16 loss to Western Oregon University on Saturday, I haven’t changed my mind.

PacMan's outstanding ... no not the one you're thinking of

I always relish in the ability to watch boxer Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao get into the ring to do his thing.

Thomas, Alexander, Zito

The Blue Jays released an angry and slumping Frank Thomas — a guy who won back-to-back MVP awards for the White Sox in 1993 and '94. The Seahawks released their former MVP running back Shaun Alexander. Are these players through? Too old? Damaged goods? They are both making big bucks, but hey, sometimes a team cuts ties, lets the athlete walk with the money, rather than have them either hurt the team or stall a new direction. I wonder how long (this year? next?) the Giants will keep Barry Zito if he continues the path of his current 0-5 downfall.

Giants officials hope that the move will bring in more money, which will mean the Giants can stay in the top 10 in MLB salaries. If you wish to know more about that, read this Mercury News article. But the reason I mention this today is because you'll be noticing some changes at FSN in the coming months, and they could affect you, the North Coast viewer.
