Raiders-Falcons Trade Almost Done
It appears the Falcons-Raiders trade will happen after all.
Corner back DeAngelo Hall told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday he will be signing a contract with Oakland shortly and be a Raider by the end of the week.
According to the Steve Wyche of the AJC, Hall will finalize the deal by Thursday morning. Wyche also states Hall is scheduled to fly to Oakland on Wednesday to meet with the team and sign the new contract.
"There is just some tweaking of the language that needs to be done, some minor details," Hall told the AJC about the contract negotiations. "No deal breakers."
So it appears that the deal is done and the Raiders get a lethal combination at corner.
I wonder what number Hall will wear?
He wore No. 21 in Atlanta and the number is currently being used by Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders franchise player.

Another risky expensive acquisition by Al Davis. Hall is a mental case. He believes Mike Vick did nothing wrong, for starters. What does Al hope to accomplish, spending all this money and trading draft picks on talented, yes, but troubled, players? Does he think the's going to build a winning team in one off-season? Does anybody know who's going to coach the Raiders in 2008? Does Al Davis know?
Does the Hall acquisition mean the Raiders won't be able to afford Lamont Jordan and will release him? If so, don't be surprised if Jordan ends up in San Diego backing up

Yes, Al Davis is spending money like a bandit.
Perhaps he is banking on the rumor that the NFL won't have a salary cap in 2010 because of the fizzling deal between the NFL and the collective bargaining agreement.
Jordan will surely be released, he's due $4.7 million next year and with Oakland perhaps looking at taking Darren McFadden at No. 4, he becomes a luxury.
It's quite possible Davis is following Kiffin's "no talent" statement or he's just stock piling talent in hopes of formulating a winning season.
The biggest question is possibly what happens to Nnamdi Asomugha at this point?
Does Davis give him a 7 year, $100 million deal?
With what Hall is reportedly going to be paid (7 years, $70 million) Asomugha -- the better of the two in my opinion -- will look for a deal like that.

"Hall is a mental case."
Uh, yeah, but that's why we're Raiders fans, isn't it?
