NFL Notwork
He said: "Are you ready for some football?!?!" A lot of people are ready to watch yet most won't be able to.
More than 60% of us won't be able to watch the 5 time champion Pittsburgh Steelers play the St. Louis Rams under the arch without leaving our couches. And don't even get me started on the conspiracy to keep the Pats undefeated so that the NFL can claim a huge viewership for their final broadcast of the season as armchair quarterbacks everywhere will want to see either a first time 16-0 regular season record or an upset to beat all upsets... OK, let me take a breath and get back on track here. My gripe: My beloved Steelers are playing and I can't watch from home on my new TV (see "Televised Debate") Yes I did just link to my own blog. Now then, I have been invited to my buddy's house to watch the game. See he has DirecTV and that's the only way you can see a game on the NFL Network. Also, you can go to a handful of bars to see it. Now get this. If you haven't already tried to watch broadcasts from NFL.com, let me enlighten you. They have a product called nfl.com/live and it's what they call a "companion live broadcast". Basically it's all the coverage a football fan could want EXCEPT being able to watch the game. Companion??? Companion to what? Companion to... WATCHING THE GAME! Me??? My wife and I are going to my mom's house for dinner with some other family from out of town. I'll be watching Sportscenter later to find out who wins. What's your take on this?

Thanks for putting family before football.

I like NFL "Notwork" and the graphic.
The U.S. Senate is making some noise about this issue. A couple of senators, one Dem and one Repub, have sent a mild warning to the NFL that the league risks losing its antitrust exemption if these games on the NFL Network are not made more widely available.
I was going to blog on this, because I don't think the NFL should be on any pay television channels, including ESPN, if they enjoy an antitrust exemption.

Thanks. I had heard that earlier in the day yesterday. That first link goes to a short NBC sports news blurb.
