Camp Valium

In an effort to spend some more mother-daughter bonding time, I volunteered to chaperon Tater's 3rd grade camping trip. We leave tomorrow morning and come back Friday afternoon, so it's really not going to be that long of a jaunt. Thank GAWD. It will be just long enough for me to down a bottle of Valium chased by a pint of JD - all the while throwing my back out while sleeping on rocks in a smelly tent.

KIDDING.

I'm actually looking forward to it even though I typically find kids at this age pretty damn annoying. I love my Taterbug but the little boys at this age tend to find farting, nose picking, and a variety of body odor smells, quite charming, and are more than willing to share these nasty little things with you, the innocent viewer. Little girls, on the other hand, while sweet smelling and cute, tend to be a tad bit nasty at this age with cliques and gossip. I always thought they turned into snots when they hit high school, but evidently that's not the case and evolution has brought about bitchiness to grammar school.

It's gonna be fun.

In the meanwhile, I will leave you with some videos to entertain. All I ask is that you say a silent prayer for my safe return and the preservation of my sanity.

You will survive! If I can do it so can you... Just think you only have 2 more kids to go. My first trip we went to Trinidad, all was fun and well until we went to bed. At some point the stomach flu hit our group, yep it was nasty! By some grace of god my tent was the only one to not have barf in it. The teacher spent the entire night driving barfing kids back to Fortuna, she did have to make one pit stop so she could change cars after a student puked in her car on the way home. At daylight we could better asses the damage and start the nasty clean up. We even had parents start barfing as they were cleaning out tents, it was quite a sight. Did I mention my tent was saved! The next trip was to Grizzly Creek and was most uneventful, yippee! I did enjoy making the camp t-shirts, you should come home with one of those. Just wait, 8th grade trip is next, you think the 3rd graders are gossipy, you haven't seen nothing yet! Have fun and we expect a report!

Oh WOW!!!! Have fun hon!
And those nose pickers live here so I feel your pain.

JD and Valium? I want to reserve a room at Camp Valium!

Wow sorry about that...I hope its fun..or that it at least goes by quickly. Valium is good but tylenol with codine is a better 'cover' - you can say your taking it for a 'headache' - thats what I do LOL.

Having just returned from serving as an advisor/counsellor at a week long citizenship program for girls in their junior year of high school, believe me when I say you have my deep empathy- Good luck and remember to breathe.
