Manic Mornings

Everyday when I take my kids to school, I hope and pray we do not get into an accident. Sure, it's mainly because I worry about their health and safety and would die if something ever happened to them. But, there is another reason my quest for a safe departure and return...
I'm a total hag in the morning.
Things I don't do prior to dropping the kids off include but are not limited to the following:
* Brush my teeth
* Comb my hair
* Talk
* Wear a bra
* Change out of my pajamas
* Clean the sleep out of my eyes
* Smile
* Remove yesterday's make-up
* Wipe the drool stain off the side of my face
* Look at myself in any reflective surface
Things I do prior to dropping the kids off include but are not limited to the following:
* Get my coffee
* Put on my Jackie O. sunglasses
* Grumble
* Um, yeah, that's pretty much it.
Can you see why I wouldn't want to get in an accident? I would die just from the embarrassment alone.
What's your morning ritual? Are you a better Mommy than I am? Do you look as pristine as Tammy Faye when you drop off your kidlets?!

Had to do my own post since you started this!

I run more along the lines of military-style mobilization of the "troops." ...Think "YES, DRILL SERGEANT!" a la Forrest Gump. With two kindergardeners and a 8 mo. old to transport to the bus stop, we often are running down our road, late, late, late! The baby gets put in her ultra-cozy suit (looks like a big pink marshmallow/michelin man), snapped into the jog stroller and down the hill we run, with each big girl having a hand on the stroller handle - my hand on top in order to prevent one of the troops from going down due to a stumble - they might come close to getting a shoulder pulled out of joint, but I haven't lost one yet! I wear my mom uniform of dirty jeans, oversized sweatshirt and ponytail - I do shower each morning before the bus stop scramble, but I'd guess the bus driver wouldn't think I look all that "fresh."

I hear ya. My kids missed the highschool bus one morning so i had on my nightie and robe and looked very much like a bag lady. I dropped the kids off at school and headed back to Rio as I passed over the bridge headed south I was hit in the drivers door by someone coming off the freeway at 12th. First person on scene was a coworker who got my husband right away so here i am with everyone in the world driving by. I could feel the pain coming on slowly but I made my husband take me home to shower before the hospital as I knew what was coming and sure enough two trips to the ER but I had my makeup on and was clean. This is truly one of the most embarassing things that can happen.

Before we homeschooled (which we do in pj's), I had to be up and going by 6:30 to drop my son off at 7:20. I rarely got dressed beyond putting on a sweat shirt, (no bra) sometimes even commando. It was just enough to put those sweats on and go in the a.m. Now life is soooo much more laid back.. School round these parts starts a 6 p.m. We have a full day to play outside and enjoy one another before deluging into studies.

Wow, Sandi, you have really pretty eyes!
I'm pushing for us to move into an RV before the kids go to school so I don't even have to leave the house to drive them to school.

What is this you speak of? This is what the BUS is for!

I am the same way... either that or I make my kids walk the two blocks to school. That is about to change Monday though when I start my 4 yr old in half day preschool and actually have to walk her in.

I have it really great (and am so not ashamed to brag). Hubby takes the oldest to school in the morning while baby and I snooze 'til about 9 am. I even had the bus rerouted to drop off about 2 blocks from our house after school. What can I say, I'm persuasive!
Nice pic, btw.

Right. I find that hard to believe. You probably get up 3 hours early and even iron your mommy jeans before taking the kids to school.
You ask how I know this?
Well I have not seen any news reports of aliens in southern humboldt at that time of day.
LOL

My routine it about the same as yours. If we're late though, I have to walk in the school and sign my kid in! Traffic makes me panic!
