Daddy's Bringing Home The Backstrap!
Over the weekend, Hubby took the boys and Grandpa D out to our hunting property. It's closing weekend for rifle season and our last opportunity to cut a load of wood before the chill of winter sets in. It's also the last weekend that my boys will get a chance to hunt alligator lizards and roll around in the dirt for three days without the required daily shower.
While our property is plentiful of downed trees and firewood, it's not so giving with the deer population. Sure, we have a lot of deer roaming around, but unfortunately, the ones that like to be seen are of the feminine nature. It's not uncommon for our family to go years without shooting a nice buck or even seeing prospects for future hunting seasons. But like I've said before, hunting trips aren't just about the hunting.
However, Hubby broke the cycle this weekend by bagging this big boy:
Did you count those points? Yep, it's a four by four.
I'm not a venison eater but my family is. They all enjoy a good barbecued piece of backstrap and a well seasoned batch of jerky. This big guy will be feeding at least three families and I thank him for it. I also thank him for the ego boost and testosterone injection he gave to my Hubby who hasn't bagged a buck in several years.

Hunting is the best way to put local beef producers out of business.
It's safe to assume that your husband bought all of his equipment off the internet or from non-local stores. Your husband knows that there are local companies that manufacture or custom make everything he uses for hunting. But he went and bought non-local anyway.
For someone who claims to like living here you sure love sending your money out of the local economy, and then rubbing it in all our faces with your smug little blog.
Go back to Southern California. They love your kind of sleaze down there...

If you haven't tried it before, take a haunch of venison, perforate with a fork, and marinate in buttermilk for 2-3 days (in the frig). Then wrap in bacon, cook at 450 til bacon begins to crisp and then at 350 til done (depends on the size). YUM!

Dear Cowardly Anonymous Troll: Thanks for stopping by and trolling! I feel blessed! Have you ever shopped at Grundman's in Rio Dell? Try it! Now get the frigg outta here, assmunch!

I love my brother and am very proud of his recent hunting success... HOWEVER for some strange reason I don't thing he is single-handedly bringing down the local beef producers with his one deer every 3-7 years track record (sorry Dame). As for shopping locally, he does it, frequently. Dear Anon. Troll - you know what assuming does (terribly cliche, I know, but fitting here), it makes an ass out of you and me (not so much me in this case, but really mostly you).

Oh, man, I was going to come on and write a mean comment about evil hunters, but someone else beat me to the punch. Too bad they weren't joking.... I would have been.
Nice buck!! Congratulations!

This is the Hubby. Not that I need to dignify the troll with a response but our family has been in Humboldt since 1896. I take great offense to the ignorant comment that I don't support our local community with my hunting. You sir, are the sleaze. Southern CA is calling their morons back home.

You are so Big Time! Too bad there are dumbasses out there jealous of your sharp shooting skills. I wonder if that dumbass knows how much money our family has spent at Grundmans and other local businesses! Dumbass! Don't let that dumbass take anything from your talents. Have I mentioned I think that Anon. Troll is a dumbass? Just wanted to make sure I got my point across. Congrats on the nice Buck!
